January, February, March...

Quite a few "events" have slipped under the blog radar this year, probably mostly because I'm spending some time playing Scrabble instead of blogging, but also because I haven't been downloading photo's regularly and then the moment passes! Anyway, here is some catch-up:

Just before the start of the new term we were introduced to a walk so close to our house that I am embarrassed to say I've never been there before, a beautiful spot on the Constantia greenbelt complete with stream and rickety bridge!

The girls started a new year at school,

Abigail moves upstairs to grade 4, the staircase being quite symbolic in depicting the huge jump from grade 3 to grade 4.

Niave started grade R and so while she has a bit more "work" to do she still gets to play.

The first "official" event of the year at Greenfield is always the inter-house gala, a lot of fun for the girls who get to swim their hearts out and shout and sing for their house, this year Arderne shared 2nd place with Molteno while Barkly took 1st again!!

On Grants birthday we joined Niave's Sunday School department for a picnic at Maynardville park, it was a beautiful, hot day. We left there early to join him at dancing for cake and candles and not 1 picture was taken!!!

And just yesterday was the PGSGU - Primary Girls School Gala Union Inter-schools gala at Wynberg Girls High School. The girls swam so well but were no match for the aquatic torpedo's of Springfield and Herschel, we fell into the "also swam" section!! But top marks for effort!
I had to have a chuckle at some of the parents on the stands, one woman (not from Greenfield) was screaming at her daughter "through the wall, through the wall" as if she could even hear her!! I don't know, it's a fine line between encouragement and undue pressure... I know our girls get discouraged when they lose but I'd rather that than have my daughter think she has to suffer a concussion to win a race.

And so we catch up to mid-March, is it really middle of March already!!

Bye-bye Bonny.

Last Monday night our dear old cat, Bonny aka Bonzo, went "missing".
She was 14 years old and very arthritic, so she didn't wander or stray much. A few days went by and we asked around and looked around but to no avail.

Then on Friday our neighbour told us that his dog had come across a dead cat in the park near
our house. The description was just like Bonny but as it was a few days later she had been taken away already, the council have been working there quite a bit lately so I think they may have removed the body.
This is the last picture taken of her:

Sweet old grumpy Bonzo!! We will miss you.
